Installing Battery-Top Vehicle Trackers

This guide covers installing RAM Tracking's battery-powered vehicle tracker directly to your vehicle's battery.

Important: These instructions are for battery-powered tracking devices. If you have a different type of device, contact our support team for the correct installation guide.

Before You Begin

Safety first:

  • Turn off the vehicle's engine

  • Ensure you're working in a well-ventilated area

  • Have the Quick Manual ready for device setup

Installation Steps

1. Set Up the Tracker

Follow the Quick Manual to configure your tracker before installation.

2. Locate and Access the Battery

  1. Find your vehicle's battery (usually in the engine compartment)

  2. If present, remove the battery cover to access the battery terminals

  3. Clean the battery surface where you'll attach the device

3. Position the Device

  1. Remove the protective backing from the double-sided tape on the device

  2. Position the device so the power wires point toward the front of the vehicle

  3. Firmly attach the device to a clean area of the battery

4. Connect the Wires

  1. Red wire (positive): Connect to the positive (+) battery terminal

  2. Black wire (ground): Connect to the negative (-) battery terminal

  3. Ensure connections are secure and won't come loose with vehicle movement

5. Test the Installation

Wait for the device LED indicators to start blinking. This confirms the device is receiving power and the installation is complete.

After Installation

  • Check that your vehicle appears on the map in your RAM Tracking system

  • Test that the device is tracking properly by taking a short drive

Safety Reminders

  • Always connect positive first, then negative

  • Ensure wires won't interfere with moving engine parts

  • Make sure connections are tight to prevent electrical issues
