If your ELD device won't connect to your vehicle, the problem is usually with the Bluetooth connection. Follow these troubleshooting steps in order to resolve connectivity issues.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Check Your Proximity to the Vehicle
You need to be close enough to establish a Bluetooth connection with the vehicle tracking unit. Move closer to your vehicle and try connecting again.
2. Turn On Your Vehicle's Ignition
Make sure your vehicle's ignition is on while troubleshooting the connection between your mobile device and vehicle. The tracking unit needs power to maintain the Bluetooth connection.
3. Enable Bluetooth on Your Mobile Device
Go to your mobile device's Settings
Find the Bluetooth setting
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
If it's off, tap the toggle to turn it on
4. Restart Your Mobile Device
Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connection issues:
Hold down the power button for a few seconds
Follow the on-screen instructions to restart your device
Once restarted, try connecting again
5. Additional Bluetooth Troubleshooting
If the above steps don't work, try these additional fixes:
Forget and re-pair the device: In your Bluetooth settings, find the ELD device and select "Forget" or "Unpair," then try pairing again
Check for interference: Move away from other Bluetooth devices or Wi-Fi networks that might be causing interference
Clear Bluetooth cache: On Android devices, go to Settings > Apps > Bluetooth > Storage > Clear Cache
