How to reattach dash cams to windshields
Updated over 6 months ago

If a camera is not attached to the windshield correctly during installation, the camera can become unstuck. The camera is then no longer able to capture videos properly. Reattach the camera to continue receiving videos with full clarity.

Before you begin

You’ll need the following:

  • 3M VHB adhesive pads

  • Alcohol wipes

The windshield glass temperature should not be too hot or cold
(recommended between 50°F – 80°F).

Procedure

  1. Remove any residue from the original adhesive pad.

    • You can remove the residue by rubbing it. The friction creates heat, and the adhesive should begin to peel off.

    • Alternatively, you can use an adhesive remover. This will help remove any remaining adhesive from your windshield with the need for a scraper or other tools.

  2. Clean the area on the windshield where the camera will be placed and ensure that the area is completely dry before you continue.

  3. Remove the 3M adhesive pad attached to the camera bracket and clean the bracket with an alcohol wipe.

  5. Peel off the protective strip from the adhesive pad.

  6. Stick the camera to the windshield.

Important: You must hold the camera in position with firm pressure for no less than 30 seconds. Failure to do this will result in a poor bond between the camera and the windshield.
