You can easily update a vehicle’s registration plate in RAM Tracking. This might be needed if:
A vehicle has been given a new plate (private plate or re-registration).
You’ve moved a tracker to another vehicle.
You’re adding a new vehicle and need to correct its registration.
Who Can Change a Registration?
Only Customer Admins have permission to make this change. If you don’t see the Change Registration button, speak to your account admin or contact Support.
How to Change a Vehicle Registration
Click Vehicles in the top menu.
Select Vehicle Settings.
Find the vehicle you want to update.
Click Change Registration.
Choose the correct option from the list and enter the new registration.
Confirm the change.
Which Option Should You Choose?
When you click Change Registration, you’ll be asked to pick one of these options:
1. Setting up a vehicle for the first time
Use this if you’re adding a vehicle and need to correct its registration before tracking starts.
2. Tracker has moved to a new vehicle
Pick this if you’ve moved the tracker hardware into a different vehicle. A new record will be created, and the original vehicle’s history will stay intact.
3. Vehicle registration has changed
Choose this if the vehicle is the same but now has a new registration plate. All historical data remains linked to the vehicle.
Tips for a Smooth Update
Type the registration exactly as it appears on the plate (all caps, no extra spaces).
If you have scheduled reports or filters using the registration number, check them after the update.
For hard-wired trackers, you may need our engineers to help move the device. Plug-in and battery-powered trackers can usually be moved easily.
