Integrating Webhooks with Zapier

How to connect RAM Tracking to other apps using webhooks and Zapier for automated workflows.

Updated this week

Connect your vehicle tracking to 2000+ apps with Zapier's webhook integration. Automatically trigger actions in your favourite apps when events happen with your vehicles.

What You Can Do

With Zapier, you can automatically:

  • Send emails when vehicles arrive at locations

  • Update Google Sheets with delivery data

  • Post notifications to Slack channels

  • Post updates about fleet status on X

  • Create calendar events for maintenance

  • Update CRM records with job completion data

Step-By-Step Setup

Create your Zapier account - Sign up for a free Zapier account if you don't already have one.

Start a new Zap - Click "Create Zap" to begin setting up your automation.

Set up the trigger:

  • Choose "Webhooks by Zapier" as your trigger app

  • Select "Catch Hook" as the trigger event

  • Zapier will give you a unique webhook URL

Configure RAM Tracking

  • In your RAM Tracking system, go to the account dropdown menu

  • Select "Webhooks" to access the configuration

  • Enter the webhook URL from Zapier

  • Set up a unique security key (this matches Zapier to RAM Tracking)

Choose your action app - Pick what should happen when the webhook triggers. Popular choices include:

  • Gmail (send emails)

  • Google Sheets (add data to spreadsheets)

  • Slack (post messages)

  • Microsoft Teams (send notifications)

Set up the action - Configure what the action should do. For example, if sending an email:

  • Set the recipient email address

  • Write the subject line

  • Create the email content using vehicle data

Test your Zap

  • Use Zapier's test feature to make sure everything works

  • Check that the action happens as expected

  • Make any needed adjustments

Turn on your Zap - Once testing is successful, enable your Zap. It will now automatically trigger whenever the specified vehicle event occurs.

Example Scenarios

  • Delivery notifications - When a vehicle reaches a customer's location, automatically send them an email confirming their delivery has arrived.

  • Fleet monitoring - When vehicles exceed speed limits, instantly post alerts to your management Slack channel.

  • Maintenance tracking - When vehicles reach certain mileage, automatically create maintenance appointments in your calendar app.

  • Customer updates - When jobs are completed, automatically update customer records in your CRM system.

Tips for Success

  • Start with simple automations and build complexity over time

  • Use descriptive names for your Zaps so you can easily manage them

  • Test thoroughly before enabling live Zaps

  • Monitor your Zaps regularly to ensure they're working as expected

The possibilities are endless; Zapier connects with thousands of apps, so you can create automations that fit your exact business needs.
